Vapefly Galaxies MTL RTA Basic Info
Galaxies RTA is 22.2mm wide and 49.5mm tall. It's a single coil rebuildable RTA with 8-way airflow settings using the gearwheels, one on each side of the base.
In addition, there are two cube inserts which sit underneath the coil to choose from. They allow for even more AF adjustments.
The Deck and the Set Up
Here you can see the deck with two posts for single coil build.
You can also see the cube insert for additional airflow settings. There are two total to choose from and each is held in place by one screw.
Combined with the AF options provided with the gearwheel, there is 100% chance that you will find the right AF for you!
The screws for gripping the wire are inside the post so the T-shape multi tool doesn't come that handy: it gets in the way while your jig tool is inside the coil while positioning it. A regular screwdriver works much better.
There is enough room for up to 3mm diameter coils and positioning them is a breeze.
The juice flow intakes are on both sides and they are quite wide so you need quite some cotton to fill them.
I wish the wells were smaller and the feeding holes (of which there are two in each well) were bigger.
When you wick your coil and gently position the cotton in the well, make sure the wick touches the bottom of the juice wells but that the cotton is not tucked in by force.
If you fluff it up first an cut the cotton to about the length of the deck on each side, you should be fine.
Once it's time to assemble the tank, the best way is to put on the glass section on the top part and the chamber first. These two are one piece. Don't over tighten anything as you are risking the glass to break, or that it'll be difficult to unscrew the tank later.
The Top Cap and Filling
The two fill ports are a part of the chamber/chimney/glass tank top holder. They are wide enough for most bottles. It may be less convenient for larger bottles.
The filling is smooth and there are no leakage problems. I suggest that you don't overfill the tank as there's a possibility of creating extra pressure which would cause the deck to flood when you tighten the top cap.
Although the top cap has knurled grips on the opposite sides, try not to overtighten it as you will have problems unscrewing it to refill the tank.
The top cap is nicely machined and takes all the drip tips I tried in addition to the two which come with the Vapefly Galaxies MTL RTA. It complements the design nicely with both glass sections, the 3ml and the bubble glass 5ml.
Vapefly Galaxies MTL RTA Airflow
Now, this is my only con for this RTA - how's that possible since the gearwheels offer such a versatile airflow adjustment possibility, you may ask?
Well, there are two wheels, one on each side. They protrude about 1mm from the base diameter and it's quite easy to accidentally mess up your setting when you handle the atomizer.
If the gearwheels which offer 8 possible AF settings had stoppers, or if they were firm and hard to move - problem solved!
Vapefly Galaxies MTL RTA Summary
Overall, it it weren't for the loose gearwheels and the too big port wells and a tad small juice fill port holes, our personal rating would be higher. This RTA vapes well, has an appealing modern design and offers a ton of AF setting options.
It's also well-machined and has great capacity with the 5ml tank. Vapor production is fine and the flavor is decent. We'll rate Vapefly Galaxies MTL RTA 8/10.
